About Us
Queer and Sober SLC was created in 2024 by TenAce, a Salt Lake local who returned to the valley and saw a need for more intentional gatherings for the queer and sober community members. We aim to provide a network of community and empowerment to LGBTQIA+ folx who are sober and looking for queer spaces to support their recovery. There is an urgent need to foster these networks here in SLC.

Oftentimes when folx decide to become sober, they are suddenly left isolated from community events due to the presence of drugs and alcohol. This isolation can often result in relapse, or worse. Queer and Sober SLC will bring the community together in a series of events—once a month. We plan to hold practical and artistic workshops, performance opportunities for sober drag artists and musicians, and other events that the community expresses a desire to see held.

Our events will highlight collaborations with sober spaces and sober LGBTQIA+ facilitators including Fit to Recover, Project Rainbow, Lil Gay Garden, and more. Our goal is not only to provide community, safe spaces, and education, but also to foster sober collaborations within the community that haven’t yet been imagined.

TenAce Moser - Founder
"As a trans person in recovery with religious trauma, I know how isolating sobriety can be. Especially in the first months or years. I’ve searched for things to do, where I’m not triggered by drugs/alcohol and ways to find a sober community. The only option available was AA. I know for some AA is a useful tool. However, I found myself triggered by talking about God and leaning on a higher power for my healing. After waiting years for Queer and Sober events, I am putting this dream into action."
